A Splendid London Fog Recipe
What ho my darlings!
As some of you know, I, Tori Wyatt, am a coffee and tea junkie. I drink coffee whenever we have a pot on-- which is basically all the time in our home-- and my mom and I usually drink tea together about every other night.
Tea is just so wonderful, don't you think? It's usually not as strong as coffee, itself, and it's a very relaxing drink. I also love going to thrift stores and buying adorable teapots and teacups with matching saucers. It makes me feel so posh and cool and groovy!
If one were to ask me: 'How do you take your tea?' My response would be: 'Seriously. Very seriously.'
I like my tea how I like my men: hot, British, and ginger. When I make a pot of Earl or Lady Grey, or just some simple Scottish breakfast tea-- which is just like English breakfast but, well, Scottish-- I use honey and a hint of milk-- just barely enough to give it a slight ginger colour.
However, I also enjoy making different tea drinks, like chocolate chai lattes or French toast tea latte (which I haven't quite perfected yet, unfortunately) and, of course, London Fogs!
A London Fog is a sweet, delectable tea drink that is so wonderful to drink on rainy or snowy days, or after a stressful day. My mom and I drink that one the most, I believe, and I don't mean to brag, but... I'm the freaking bomb at making it.
London Fogs make me happy. And you know what? Today I've decided to share my process of making one so that you, too, can be happy!
First, we should start off with stuff that we need, hmm? After all, the items are a big part of the making process.
Here's what you'll need to make a scrumptious cuppa:
- ½ cup of milk
- ½ cup of Earl Grey tea [or, if you don't have Earl Grey specifically like me, you can always make plain tea-- English or Scottish breakfast, for instance-- and add a few drops of bergamot oil to it. And when I say 'a few', I do, in fact, mean 'a few'. Bergamot is strong and too much will get you choking and hacking in no time-- trust me, I know.]
- 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- Coconut oil
Oi! And did I mention that this recipe is 100% o-natur-al? It is! So enjoy, my fellow whole-food-eaters and tea-drinkers!
Alrighty, so first you've got to make your tea. Put on the kettle and get some water boiling. Remember not to fill your mug up all the way, for you do need room for the milk. Also with your tea, add a hint of coconut oil: it's good for you, and it tastes absolutely scrumptious!
Heat the milk either in the microwave or on the stove. Once it's heated, you can add the vanilla extract and honey. Make sure to stir it really good.
Then you mix your tea and sweet milk together, give it a stir, and relax back in your favourite chair with the cuppa!
It's rather simple, really. But I thought I'd share it anyway.
Enjoy!
